Abstract: The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has presented a severe global pandemic and has had a huge impact on human politics, economy, and learning life. With the continuous deepening of the recognition of COVID-19, China has proposed targeted diagnosis and treatment programs. Cistanche has been used as a valuable medicinal material for more than 2000 years. According to the existing research, it could be considered that the intestinal laxative and immunomodulatory functions of Cistanche deserticola have clinical significance for patients with COVID-19 in rehabilitation.

According to the latest statistics from the World Health Organization, as of June 13, 2020, there have been a total of 7.4 million patients infected with the new coronavirus worldwide, resulting in approximately 420,000 deaths. Although under the leadership of our party and government, COVID-19 has been effectively contained in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. However, due to differences in culture and political systems in other countries, COVID-19 has not been effectively controlled in other countries, and it has shown a global pandemic. On June 10, 2020, the top international journal "Nature" published a research report on Remdesivir (Remdesivir) in the treatment of new coronary disease. The report stated that the application of Remdesivir in the early stage of infection has certain clinical significance, but The author of the article also stated that due to the differences between rhesus monkeys and humans, the result is still open to question. At the same time, my country and other countries in the world are vigorously developing a vaccine against COVID-19, but so far there is no vaccine on the market.

According to reports from the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the effective rate of combined Chinese and Western medicine treatment can reach more than 92%. Therefore, it is foreseeable that Chinese medicinal materials have certain application value and practical significance in the prevention and control of COVID-19. Cao et al. systematically summarized the current progress in the application of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention and control of COVID-19 and believed that plant polysaccharides are the effective ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine against the new coronavirus (3). The National Health Commission clarified the TCM diagnosis and treatment plan for patients with new coronavirus infection in the "New Coronavirus Diagnosis and Treatment Plan (Trial Sixth Edition)" (hereinafter referred to as the plan). The plan divides the diagnosis and treatment plan into 7 according to the development and degree of the disease. Class, containing a variety of traditional Chinese medicines for relieving the surface.

Cistanche has been used as a medicinal material for more than 2,000 years. Since the "Shen Nong's Materia Medica" in the Eastern Han Dynasty, it has been included as a valuable medicinal material in various dynasties' herbal works. According to the "Shen Nong's Materia Medica" in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Cistanche "tastes salty. It mainly treats five labors and seven injuries, nourishes the middle, removes the cold and heat pain in the stem, nourishes the five internal organs, strengthens the yin, nourishes the essence and qi, multiple children, and women's symptoms. Same struggle A). For a long time to take the light body, give birth to the valley." Li Shizhen recorded in the "Compendium of Materia Medica" Cistanche is "sweet, mild, non-toxic. Indications for fatigue, depravity, and black face." Although Cistanche is not included in the plan, However, the physiological activity of Cistanche can still be considered as an alternative for patients in the rehabilitation stage.

1 laxative

In the plan, it is clear that patients in the recovery phase have symptoms of stool weakness, and Cistanche has a certain diarrhea effect. Fan Yanan et al. used loperamide hydrochloride to prepare a mouse constipation model. At the same time, they administered cistanche total syrup, cistanche total polysaccharides, and cistanche total oligosaccharides to model animals, and then studied the animal defecation and various physiological indicators in mice. The parallel comparison found that Cistanche total oligosaccharides are the main active components of cistanche intestines and laxatives. Comprehensive literature reports, combined with the symptoms of patients in the rehabilitation stage in the current program, it can be considered that the laxative effect of Cistanche is beneficial to the recovery of intestinal health.

2Immune regulation

In view of the common respiratory failure of patients, the program believes that mechanical ventilation should be given. Tracheotomy and indwelling intubation is one of the common clinical operations to alleviate dyspnea in patients, and it is also an important rescue technique in emergency work. Wen Guohua and others believe that tracheotomy and indwelling intubation is necessary in the treatment of new crowns. Sex chimney. However, it is worth noting that the operation inevitably destroys the defense function of the patient’s respiratory tract, which can easily cause re-infection of the patient’s lungs. Although antibiotics can be used to effectively control the patient’s condition, the plan points out that during antimicrobial treatment, The blind or inappropriate use of antibacterial drugs should be avoided, especially the combined use of broad-spectrum antibacterial drugs.

Yao Jinqian used Cistanche polysaccharide aqueous solution to administer the tracheostomy intubation indwelling mice and found that compared with the control group, the lung slice lesions of the mice in the administration group showed a significant improvement trend. Based on his research results, the author believes that Cistanche can improve tracheotomy The patient's immunity is left in the intubation tube, which has a positive effect on lung infection. The main component that produces the immune function is Cistanche Polysaccharide.

Research on the use of Cistanche to prevent lung injury is in the ascendant. Yin Gang and other studies found that Cistanche extract can effectively reduce lung damage caused by infection. The author believes that the protective effect of Cistanche extract on lung injury of dosage forms is to inhibit the migration of inflammatory cells in the lung, promote the synthesis of nucleic acid and protein, and at the same time The research team also studied the protective effect of Cistanche against acute lung injury caused by sepsis. Research shows that Cistanche also has a clear protective effect. In addition, a number of studies have shown that Cistanche has a clear protective effect on acute lung injury and high altitude pulmonary edema in rats caused by lipopolysaccharide. However, Mao Xinmin and Liu Tao believe that the mechanism of Cistanche in preventing lung injury lies in one of its active ingredients, benzene. Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative stress activities are possessed by ethoxylates [5].

Zhao et al. studied Cistanche polysaccharide as a vaccine adjuvant and found that Cistanche polysaccharide can improve the humoral and cellular immune responses of influenza virus vaccines. The author believes that cistanche polysaccharide has certain feasibility and safety as a vaccine adjuvant. Active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine as vaccine adjuvants are one of the hotspots in the field of Chinese medicine research. The polysaccharide adjuvant Advax derived from inulin has now carried out a number of clinical trials, covering many viral infectious diseases such as HIV, influenza, and hepatitis B. Therefore, it can be considered that the use of Cistanche deserticola polysaccharide in the development of the COVID-19 vaccine has certain feasibility.

3 Anti-fatigue

Li Yongchao's research found that Cistanche has a definite anti-fatigue effect. Its main active ingredient is the phenethyl oxime compound contained in Cistanche. It is indicated in the regimen that patients in the convalescence period are often tired and weak. Therefore, Cistanche is used as a dietary treatment plan. Can relieve this symptom.

To sum up, the clinical manifestations of patients infected with the new coronavirus during the recovery period include symptoms such as shortness of breath, fatigue, weakness, and stool weakness. As a blindly precious medicinal material, Cistanche has been used for more than 2000 years. According to literature reports, Cistanche polysaccharide has immunity Regulating, moisturizing the bowel, and other physiological activities, so it has certain clinical significance for patients. At present, many cases of new coronary pneumonia patients have been diagnosed in Fengtai District, Beijing, the capital of my country. Most of them are related to the wholesale market in the newly developed area. It is foreseeable that the fight against the new coronavirus will be normalized. In daily life, we must not only promote citizens to pay attention to hygiene but also do a good job. Virus prevention and control work for susceptible people. As a traditional Chinese medicine with the same food and medicine, Cistanche can be consumed in appropriate amounts in daily life to improve personal immunity, which has certain significance for future epidemic prevention work.
