The most interesting thing today is to dig "desert ginseng".

"Let's go, dig Cistanche!" I don't know who called and immediately activated my boring heart. We got on the pickup truck and two local people were walking with us. One of them was named Wang De. He sat in the back of the car and pointed the way. The car only drove more than one kilometer, and it arrived outside a small fenced manor. Get a reward as soon as you get off the car! This is the goal that Wang has been focusing on before. The "desert ginseng" grows outside the wooden stakes, protruding out on the sandy ground about ten centimeters high, small yellow trumpet-shaped flowers blooming freely, ringing up section by section, a bit like sesame blossoms. The rhizomes attached to the small flowers are glowing black and look like they are about to wither—in fact, after blooming in the desert, this plant will slowly wither and eventually become a desert plant "mummy".

After digging out the first "ginseng", I walked around the manor for less than a hundred meters, followed by the second and third... Wang knows the road, every time he dugout, the speed of the "meatball" unearthed me Overwhelmed. And seeing the little yellow flowers peeking out on the sandy ground, our mood is like an old farmer who found wild ginseng in the Daxinganling Mountains. The hoe is planed down the side of the plant, and the whole "ginseng" can be taken out to a certain depth, and some roots are quite deep, and if you accidentally dig it, it will break a piece and leave it in the ground. The "ginseng" plants are planted on the sandy ground, very similar to the small taro grown in the paddy fields in southern China, except that the small taro in the paddy field is dark in appearance, while the fresh Cistanche is light yellow, so tender and tender. Hold it for fear of hurting its skin. Later, I dug up several "desert ginseng" in another oasis on the east side of the desert road. The part of these "ginseng" exposed in the sand was dark and seemed to be scorched by the sun. We pulled it out without much effort. Fresh Cistanche, the roots are swollen into spheres, like tender ginger, daffodil bulbs, and plantain roots. They are fleshy and plump as if they can produce water with just a pinch. It is a miracle of nature that such fresh and juicy "soil fat circles" can grow in this water-scarce sandy land.

We dug back seven or eight roots of Cistanche. I boiled it in a pot of boiling water and soaked it for a while, and then dried it so that it can be soaked in wine. It is said that it is very good for male friends. What opened my eyes to me was that when I poured boiling water into a pot of Cistanche, the water instantly turned bright golden yellow. "This water is a good thing." You can put a few tablespoons of sugar in it and drink it after cooling down. I tasted it, sweet and astringent. Before it was soaked in water, I pinched a small piece of Cistanche in my mouth and chewed it. The taste was bitter and sweet, similar to the taste of ginseng, which made people know the bitterness of a good thing.

In the evening, I went to the roof of the bungalow where I lived to retrieve Cistanche. After half a day's exposure, the volume of Cistanche has shrunk a lot, it has turned yellow and black, and it will probably dry out after a few more days of exposure. I gathered these treasures together and held them in my hands, turned around, and was about to go down the stairs, but inadvertently caught a glimpse of the sunset on the horizon of the desert in the distance. I have never seen such a magnificent sunset in my life-a a big round gong hanging on In the sky, ten thousand golden rays of light pierced the purple and reddish sunset. In the blink of an eye, the gong has been stuck on the horizon, one, half, and an arc, and finally disappeared. The vacant brilliant glow outlines the lines of the scenery on the horizon and puts them in a golden veil. Slowly, the golden color gradually dimmed, becoming pale yellow and black. In the special "symphony" of light and shadow, this day seems so beautiful.
