Cistanche is known as "desert ginseng", which is one of the "Nine Immortal herbs of China". It is mainly based on Hotan, Xinjiang, and mainly grows in the zone of Taklimakan Deserts. It is located at the golden latitude line -- 37° NORTH latitude, cistanche tubulosa can be known as the "miracle of life" in this dead sea.
Cistanche is irrigated by enough Kunlun Mountains snow water and replenishment of atmospheric precipitation, combined with drip irrigation technology in desert agriculture. So Hotan county in southern Xinjiang become the most suitable for the development of artificially cultivated cistanche deserticola in China. The Kunlun Mountains snow water has been nourishing it, so nutrient content is the highest, and is also used widely.
Cistanche has been used in medicine for more than 2,000 years. In ancient times, it was often used as tribute. In Xinjiang, it is often used as the daily diet of centenarians, and they always added a little Cistanche to their diet. This habit has been passed down for generations and is the biggest factor in the longevity of the centenarians in Hotan.
The ancient book "Shen Nong’s Materia Medica" records: "Cistanche, its Sweet, lukewarm. treat injuries, tonify kidneys, remove febrile disease, nourish organs, enrich blood, women irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, and infertility.
Chinese medicine believes that cistanche has the effect of nourishing the organs, supplementing qi and nourishing blood. which can protect the liver and kidney, moisten the intestines and relieve constipation, and delay aging.
For males: tonifying kidney and nourishing essence, protecting the liver, and eliminating alcohol;
For women, nourishing qi and blood, whitening and tonifying the skin.
In recent years, it has been widely used in clinical prescription, Chinese medicine, and health care products.
