cistanche can treat kidney disease

Abstract

The alcohol-soluble part of Cistanche Decoction can significantly increase the weight of the seminal vesicle prostate of castrated young rats; increase the weight of the testis and seminal vesicle prostate of mice and rats; the decoction can increase the phagocytic function of mouse peritoneal macrophages. There was no statistical difference between raw and processed products. The maximum tolerable dose for mice is 40g/kg.

cistanche can treat diabetes

Cistanche is a traditional replenishing and aphrodisiac medicine, which has the effects of nourishing the kidney, nourishing essence, and moisturizing the intestines. The genuine product is the fleshy stem of Cistanche deserticola Y. C. Ma. The conventional preparation is wine stewed for 24 hours. We have conducted comparative studies on the yang-assisting effects and non-specific immune pharmacological effects of raw products and processed products, and compared their acute toxicity.

People with kidney-yang deficiency generally have neurological and endocrine system dysfunctions, while kidney-tonifying and invigorating yang drugs often exhibit hormone-like effects, supplementing the lack of hormones in the body, and also act on the hypothalamus-pituitary to regulate the function of the endocrine gland axis to improve the body Hormone levels [1]. This experiment shows that Cistanche can promote the growth and development of the testis of young mice and rats, increase the weight of the seminal vesicle and prostate, which proves that it has a hormone-promoting effect. There is no significant difference between raw and processed products. For juvenile castrated rats, both raw and processed products can significantly increase the weight of accessory organs, showing an androgen-like effect, and there is no statistical difference between the two. The difference with testosterone propionate is that neither raw products nor processed products will atrophy the thymus of castrated rats; among them, large doses of processed products can significantly increase the weight of the thymus of castrated rats. The above results indicate that at the set dose, raw and processed products have androgen-like effects without testosterone-like side effects. It has been reported that the decoction of Cistanche cistanche does not have androgen-like effects[2], which is inconsistent with this result, and it may be related to the different preparation methods and dosage of the drug.

to prevent chronic kidney disease

It is generally believed that the immune function is weakened or disordered when the kidney yang is weak, and the effect of the kidney-tonifying and strengthening yang medicine is closely related to the improvement of the body's immune function [3, 4]. Our experiments show that both raw and processed products can significantly improve the non-specific immune function of mice. There is no statistical difference between products.

This experiment affirmed the hormone-promoting effects of Cistanche, androgen-like effects, and enhancing non-specific immune function. Compared with raw products and processed products, there is no statistical difference between the two. Both raw and processed products are less toxic.
