2 Results and Analysis

2.1 Effect of Gas Jet Impingement Drying Conditions on the Color of Cistanche

The color images of the processed Cistanche samples were captured using a scanner and converted into numerical values. The results are shown in Table 2. In the RGB mode, higher values indicate a lighter color, meaning the lighter the color of the Cistanche slices, the better their quality.

2.2 Effect of Gas Jet Impingement Drying Conditions on the Effective Component Content of Cistanche

The galactitol content of naturally dried and oven-dried Cistanche samples was similar. Echinacoside was detected in trace amounts in oven-dried samples, but not in naturally dried samples. Jet impingement drying resulted in higher galactitol retention compared to natural and oven drying methods, indicating its superiority in preserving galactitol content.
